About The Speakers
Wanda Durant, affectionately known as Mama Durant and “The Real MVP”, is a strong leader, advocate, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Her passion is to inspire underserved children, single mothers and communities to move beyond their immediate circumstances and to aim for higher heights in life. Mama Durant is the mother of two sons: businessman, Anthony (Tony) Durant; and National Basketball Association (NBA) Champion and 2017 Finals MVP player, Kevin Durant. After fulfilling her most precious role as a mother and a 20 year career, Wanda became overwhelmed with a long-ignored desire to find her purpose.
Her dream was realized when she created Hope, Dream Believe and Achieve (HDBA, LLC) where she is the president and CEO of this motivation platform. Through HDBA, Wanda shares her blueprint for parenting that she used to help her children become successful adults. She also emphasizes to the youth the importance of them becoming global citizens and cultural diplomats.
Wanda’s philanthropic outreach is realized via her time and support to The Kevin Durant Charity Foundation, and other non-profits including Single Parents Support Network, Baller Moms, Positive Tomorrows, The Boys & Girls Club of America and Mothers of Professional Basketball Players. Wanda recently launched her own non-profit entity, Wanda Durant The Real MVP™ Charity, Inc.
Erika Swilley is currently serving as the Executive Director of the Foundation at the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), bringing with her a wealth of experience from her philanthropic endeavors with organizations such as the Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Sky & Sky Cares Foundation, and Detroit Shock. In her current role, Swilley spearheads the coordination and strategic direction of the NBPA Foundation, spotlighting and amplifying the global initiatives of professional basketball players in community building and driving positive change through charitable endeavors and social entrepreneurship.
Swilley's contributions have earned her prestigious appointments such as serving on the Michigan Governor’s Task Force on Women in Sports and receiving the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Medallion Award, in acknowledgment of her contributions to promoting voting rights. Additionally, Swilley has been named a "Woman of Excellence" by the Michigan Chronicle in 2009 and has been recognized as a "Who's Who" in Black Detroit in 2010, and Detroit's 40 Under 40 in 2018.
Originally hailing from Chicago, Illinois, Swilley is a proud alumna of the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Kevin Durant is a 19-year NBA veteran and forward for the Houston Rockets. He is a 2x NBA Champion and Finals MVP, having also won an NBA MVP Award, four NBA scoring titles, four Olympic gold medals, two NBA All-Star Game MVP Awards, 16x NBA All-Star, and an NBA Rookie of the Year Award. He was also included in the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
Off the court, Durant is co-founder of Boardroom, a sports and entertainment company that includes the flagship media network, Boardroom.TV.
Founded in 2019 by Durant and executive Rich Kleiman, Boardroom covers the business of sports, music and entertainment, with a special focus on the ways that athletes, executives, musicians, and creators are moving the business world forward. Durant received the season-long NBA Cares Community Assist and ESPN Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian awards in 2018.
