A Seat at the Table: O.U.R. Mothers Meets with NBA Leadership

On Tuesday, June 23, 2025—the day before the NBA Draft—the Executive Team of O.U.R. Mothers, Inc., including Wanda Durant, Jennifer Ivey, and Paddy Hibbert, was honored to meet with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Leah Wilcox, Vice President and Commissioner’s Office Liaison. The meeting took place at the beautiful NBA headquarters on Madison Avenue in New York City.

The purpose of the meeting was to formally introduce O.U.R. Mothers, Inc., and share our mission, vision, and ongoing commitment to underserved communities. Wanda Durant led the discussion by presenting an overview of our organization’s history and highlighting our impactful community programs and events, many of which are held in partnership with NBA teams. Our 27-page organizational booklet, showcasing our four-year history, was presented during the meeting.

Jennifer Ivey shared details about our dedication to supporting youth parents, focusing on the success of the 2025 Pregnant Parenting Youth Program (PPYP)—a two-year initiative currently underway in partnership with Baby2Baby and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Paddy Hibbert concluded the presentation by emphasizing our need for financial support and deeper collaboration with NBA teams in order to expand and launch our Signature Programs:

  • In the Paint Readers – Our national literacy initiative

  • Youth Parenting Support Program – Teen parenting mentorship and essential resources support.

  • O.U.R. Mothers United Program – Includes our Women’s Wellness Initiative, our Sister to Sister Mentoring Program and our Slam Dunk Cookbook.

Later that afternoon, our team attended the NBA's Prospective Parent Panel, where we connected with several mothers of incoming draftees.
